Hotel Santa Helena Plaza!!

We have arrived!!  After a long day of travel that seemed like something between the Amazing Race and an immunity challenge on Survivor, we are comfortably in the hotel. The kids have already been for a swim in the pool (at midnight), Enid came by for a brief 12am orientation and we are hopefully getting some sleep before tomorrow...but with wireless in the hotel...there may be little sleep for some of us.

Tomorrow, we will tour the historic center of the city, churches and the town square, the Zocolo with Eugene, the tour guide who keeps us up on everything Oaxacan.  In the late afternoon, we will take the bus to Casa Hogar where we will see the children for the first time and make plans for the week!  Look for an update and photos Saturday night!!

    Brisk morning in CT. We checked your weather there, saw forecast in High 80s for the week. Cats seem baffled by quiet house. Happy to hear you've arrived safely. Love, Mom and Padre

    A midnight swim sounds like a perfect way to end the first day's adventure!! Enjoy Oaxaca today and post pictures soon.

    What kind of services are you doing? Building, teaching, bonding, etc?

      This is Anna. Yes, we'll be teaching some English, bonding with the absolutely wonderful kids at Casa Hogar, and more!

      Ms OB here... Today we went to the orphanage, played with the kids and planned to most amazing party for all of them on Thursday night...can you say pinata!!!

    It sounds like you guys are having a blast. Given that I'm one of the lucky students who got to take the S.A.T. today (wooo) it's good to see that other people's saturdays didn't start off as bad.
