Day 1: Casa Hogar

What was supposed to be a short trip to Casa Hogar turned into a four hour playtime and build fest. With the money from the donations we collected, we went to Sam's Club to purchase the play equipment Casa Hogar needs. While the large wooden play set is currently out of stock (Enid will pick it up in two weeks) the trampoline was purchased. In a matter of a little over an hour, our Wat kids banded together and assembled it. Collaboration in the truest sense- Emma, Meghan, Daniel, Jake, Emily, Jesse, Will, Grace and Mr Werner worked as a team with many of the kids watching anxiously. All of them made us proud: from Parshaan in the middle of a gaggle of kids playing temple run on a iPhone to Charlotte tending to some scrapes and changing diapers to Kate reconnecting with kids from last year to Sara teaching the girls head, shoulders, knees and toes in English. Tomorrow we are off to the ruins at Mitla, another market, the famous 'stone soup' and moving into our homestays.
