1st day

We arrived at the hotel last night at about 8. Enid welcomed us, and we went to our rooms. There´s a really pretty courtyard and pool that our rooms look out on, and some of us went swimming, though it was pretty cold.
This morning after breakfast we were met by Enid and our tourguide. We got a general tour of the Zócolo, the town center, and the surrounding area, which included a marketplace brimming with interesting things. Some of us even tried grasshoppers with chili seasoning!
After lunch, we went to Casa Hogar and, after getting situated and introducing ourselves, we made a lot of little friends. They were all so adorable and energetic and sweet! I played with a little girl who couldn´t talk yet but she liked to play with Ms. OB´s Spanish-English dictionary and it was fun holding her hands while she walked around.
For dinner, we chose from a variety of soups, some spicy and some not, but my favorite part of the meal were the tacos served as appetizers. They had a delicious, chewy, mozzarella-like cheese filling and were served with beans.
Another highlight of our experience here has been the weather. It is warm but very comfortable and there are frequent gentle breezes. It is not humid and there´s sun when you want it and shade when you want it. Such a nice change from the feet upon feet of snow in CT! Tomorrow we go to Monte Alban, which has a reputation for its carved crafts. More soon! -Anna
